Détrompe l’œil

To circumvent the optical illusion of trompe l’oeil paintings, Daniel Spoerri applied real objects to naturalistic paintings, which he found at flea markets. He himself referred to this as being the last step in a tromp l’oeil painting, which through the addition of real objects no longer is one. The optical illusion is suspended through real objects.
