TINGUELY
Born in Fribourg on 22nd May, 1925, he died in Bern 30th August, 1991. Tinguely
was one of the founders of the Nouveaux Réalistes. He served an apprenticeship
as decorator (as a window-dresser he stirred sensation in Bern). The artist
constructed his first mechanical works of art, for which he is famous today,
in the Sixties. Two fountains are especially well-known to the public: one in
front of the “Kunsthalle” in Basle, the other is a collaboration
with Niki de St Phalle. It is located near the Centre Pompidou in Paris. www.tinguely.ch
